I watch a lot of political television because I think journalists reveal themselves by the way they conduct themselves on these shows.

On Sundays I watch ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos at 10 am. This week he had on White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew and former Senator Rick Santorum.

Then at 10:30 I usually switch to David Gregory and Meet the Press. This week he had on White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew and former Senator Rick Santorum.

At noon I often watch State of the Union with Candy Crowley on CNN. This week she had on White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew and former Senator Rick Santorum.

Stephanonpoulos asks about a passage in Santorum’s book…

STEPHANOPOULOS: You’ve raised a lot of eyebrows with some of your comments about women, those comments the other day about women in combat, where you suggested that shouldn’t happen because of the types of emotions involved. I know you were talking about the emotions of men who are — who are alongside the women, but also in your book, “It Takes a Family,” where you seem to suggest that a lot of women feel pressure to work outside the home because of radical feminism. And what do you say to those who worry — believe that those kind of comments are going to alienate women, make you an easier candidate to beat in a general election?

MR. GREGORY: There are other issues, social issues, the role of women in society that you’ve spoken out about and you’ve written about and, and you’ve been scrutinized for, but maybe not everybody is aware of some of the things you’ve said. You’ve been asked about women in combat, which is an issue that came up this week. You’ve also talked about, you know, your view of feminism, and it’s something that you wrote about. I want to show something that you wrote in your book “It Takes a Family.” “The radical feminists,” you wrote, “succeeded in undermining the traditional family and convincing women that professional accomplishments are the key to happiness.” Now, Senator, everything I’ve learned about feminism from my working mother, my working sister and my working wife is that it’s about respecting the choice of working or not working, not somehow the choice of working undermining the, the traditional family.

They didn’t like my legislation calling for a raise in the minimum wage, and the White House probably called me a lot of things when I fought their efforts to cut Amtrak funding.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So you look at the spending on Amtrak funding, the raising of the minimum wage, and some are also starting to point out your vote to raise Judge Sotomayor, Sonia Sotomayor, President Clinton’s pick to the circuit court. Of course, she ended up on the Supreme Court.

I found it surprising that, in CPAC, this collection of basically your base that has fueled your campaign, a collection of conservative groups, had a straw poll and they voted for Mitt Romney, 38 percent to 31 percent. What happened?

STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, I guess it’s three steps forward, a couple back. Yesterday, Mitt Romney took the straw poll at the CPAC conservative conference in Washington. He beat out Ron Paul in the main caucuses. You were back in third. Disappointed?

And the award for best-timed film release goes to … Premiering in Canada today (and the U.S. later this Spring, though they may want to bump that release date up) is a film called “Pink Ribbons, Inc.,” a Canadian film which purports to show the dark side of the Komen for the Cure breast cancer movement along with the “pinkwashing” movement. Seriously. It comes out this weekend in Canada. Of all weekends. So, on top of a PR disaster that strongly damaged their brand is a movie whose release has been planned for months that shows the hypocrisy of said brand. Talk about good timing.
