PSA: LIVE BLOGGING NEW RESTAURANT OPENING!!
Buster’s On 28th, a new dining establishment at 28th and 42nd, opens tomorrow and since it’s near or neighborhood, Aaron and I are going there for lunch. Here’s a treat: through the magic of LIVE BLOGGING, you can come along too!
Share in our experience as we visit the new Buster’s On 28th.
5:05PM Lookin’ at Buster’s On 28th’s webpage. Nice. Classy. Cold beerz, delicious burgers, good times. We’re in for a treat. Prices look decent, too.
5:32PM Aaron calls to see if the restaurant has lunch or is dinner only. No one picks up. Damn!
6:49PM Trying again to get the hours… a human answered! He says there’s not lunch tomorrow, only dinner. Damn. I’ll have to check and see if Aaron can do lunch.
6:55PM Aaron’s got a lunch meeting, but can do dinner. I don’t know if I can make dinner. DAMN! We’ll have to figure out when we can both go so we can make this LIVE BLOG work.
9:15PM Aaron notices Buster’s On 28th updated their online PDF menu to include what beers and wine they have. “Decent selection” sez Aaron.
10:15PM Ed Kohler stirs up controversy with Buster’s On 28th’s address. Why does he have to cause so much controversy?!?
10:19PM Aaron invites Deets readers to join the LIVE BLOGGING at 6pm tonight.
____________
Tuesday, Opening Night
5:30PM Okay, here we go. Let the LIVE BLOGGING begin! I’m still at work, but I’m going to try and sneak out to get down to Buster’s On 28th and bring you some on-the-spot reporting of this new eatery.
5:42PM Aaron’s at the restaurant. He just ordered a Left Hand Sawtooth.
5:46PM They don’t have Surly or Summit. Ed Kohler has shown up and has ordered a Flat Earth. Aaron got a Rush River. Wish I was there to have a beer.
6:03PM Aaron says the waitress offered them a free PBR. Ed said yeah and two minutes later got his ordered beer. Man, those guys have a lot of beer. I should really be there to help them.
6:23PM Some other bloggers have shown up, but I’m still at work. I wonder if they’re all LIVE BLOGGING. I bet they are. Aaron says that it’s loud, could be the beer talking.
6:40PM Local celebrity music critic Steve McPhearson and his fiancee are also at the restaurant. I had no idea Steve McPhearson was engaged. I’ve also never talked to Steve McPhearson before. Or met him. Wait, Steve McPhearon’s a music writer, right? Aaron and Ed are getting their second round.
6:50PM I’m eating some chips.
6:56PM It’s getting pretty crowded and service is slowing down. But that’s what happens on opening night. It’s good they just got beers.
7:17PM Buster’s On 28th doesn’t have mixed drinks, so everyone’s drinking beer. Sweet, delicious beer. Amy, one of the people who could actually go to the restaurant, ordered a juicy lucy and it apparently came “asploded”. I’m guessing that means the cheese inside the burger made it’s way out of the burger.
7:44PM Just found out that this restaurant’s owned by the same folks who own the Happy Gnome in Saint Paul.
7:59PM Aaron had the pear and garlic pizza, which he said was good, but very rich. I think if I would’ve gone, I would’ve had a burger because they look so good on the site.
8:02PM Aw, man. The staff at Buster’s On 28th just brought a round of drinks to the table because they think it’s journalists or food critics. That’s going to be round 4 for the people who could go. Damn. It sounds really fun.
8:26PM I think everyone’s drunk. The only update I’ve received in the last twenty minutes was Aaron saying “George Lucas is here”.
8:41PM The bill’s all paid up and people are starting to leave. There’s some pints left, though. If you’re in the neighborhood, you should stop in and say hey.
8:53PM Well, it’s a wrap. Overall, everyone had an enjoyable time, I think, and I’m glad we could bring it to you through LIVE BLOGGING. Thanks for reading and go check out Buster’s On 28th!
