I <3 Randball

But all isn’t half-assed on the Strib page. If I had to pick a favorite local blog right now, I’d go with Michael Rand’s Randball. Even if you’re not into sports, Rand will keep you entertained with absurb but enjoyable posts like this one from this morning:

Note: This is the first in a five-part RandBall series today that was produced from roughly 8:30-10 p.m. last night in an experiment not unlike free form jazz without all the trumpets. Tap your feet if you want (not you, Mr. Craig).

If you stare at a blank screen long enough, you start to regret everything. You wonder, “Is this it? Have I come to the end of the day, one seemingly crammed minute-to-minute with endless tasks, meetings, conversations and thoughts, and yet now that it’s quiet save for the Johnny Cash, there is nothing to say?” But then you remember that this is what you do: you just start writing and hope that eventually the words lead you somewhere, anywhere, because they have to. And it doesn’t matter that anywhere is very strange, or that the Johnny Cash is skipping uncontrollably, like a Vikings fan who has just witnessed an 8-yard completion.”

Whew.

And I’m not sure Rand has any time to do sports coverage for the paper, since he’s posting at least times a day.  The most recent post?  Going on about a new screenplay idea.  Brilliant.

Well done Mr. Rand, keep up the great work.
