Looking for a tour of the Twin Towns?  Metro’s posted the winners of their “48 Hour Tour” contest, including the Hipster tour from socialite extraordinaire Mark Fox and the Foodie tour from Flak Radio’s own Jim Norton.  You can also check out their site design, complete with comments on the blog posts and a new “Hood Highlights” that profiles all the trendy...

It turns out Senator Craig’s loss might be your gain.  The STrib gets linked today on TPM for an article on an on-line guide to gay public bathroom sex.  Don’t try to do at the airport, the guide says, because people have been getting busted.  Also, surprise, surprise, the State Fair Grounds bathroom and crusty and gross.  So if you’re on the prowl for a tryst in a public...

Last night I caught a bit of the orgy of Twins nostalgia at the stadium groundbreaking on Fox Sports before the whole spectacle got so nauseating that I had to just turn off the television.  Here’s an article suggestion: how many of those present at the ground breaking, as an estimation, reside in Hennepin County and are likely to fork over stadium funding with a fraction of their...

MnMo's September Issue
In case you missed it, Minnesota Monthly set aside its September issue for examining what makes Minnesota cool. I know, it sounds like the kind of stock theme that let’s the editors really focus on their sumer vacations. But as it turns out, MnMo makes a convincing case for our coolness. Just take Tim Gihring’s wonder and well-written reflection on our recent history, in which he...

Where Are The Journalists!?
Aaron’s link blog has a choice quote from DeRusha, who had to buy some airport arrest records, and there’s apparently been a lot of toe tapping for sex in the airport bathrooms. But here’s my question: when are we going to see a hidden camera exposé sting operation by a local reporter? Who’s man enough to put themselves in airport bathroom sex’s way to show us...

Local Blogger on a Fashion Blogging Tear
Not only did MSP Fashion Diva Sarah Glassman make my morning by tipping me off to the Robyne Robinson show, she also gets name dropped on Jezebel and Fashionista for her Vera Wang post!  (If you didn’t catch it, the Kohl’s in Minnesota found a forum where the new ladies wear was leaked and downloaded it into their stores before all the other stores got the official debuts.)  Well...

Fergie Barfs? I Call B.S.
According to D-Listed, Fergie, aka Fergalicious, aka Saturday’s headliner at the State Fair, decided to take in some of the rides and hit the giant slide.  Hey, Kweli did, why not Fergie, right?  But then supposedly things got messy.  Apparently Fergie couldn’t handle the action and horked all over the place.   Now, could this have happened?  Of course.  But could it happen and no one...

In case you’re going to be heading to The Fair this week, here are my three tips to master the Great MN Get Together: 1. Park in the residential area North and West of Larpenteur and Snelling (around like Asbury). It’s free, there’s no lines, and it’s only two or three more blocks to the North Entrance. 2. Bring some of those little bottles of rum and pour them into...

Nice! The RNC Welcoming committee, who like the rest of us really don’t want to welcome the RNC, got some local (pi)press. I particularly like this quote (emphasis mine): “Some among us may choose to resist state violence using pacifist tactics, while others use whatever methods they deem necessary and appropriate,” she said in a brief appearance at the run-down Jack Pine...

400 Bar Wall Collapses
Johannah of Dancing with Johannah! told me yesterday that she was at her friend’s show at the 400 Bar when she thought she heard a car crash into the side of the building. Turns out that nothing hit, but that one of the walls simply collapsed. I wasn’t sure I believed her, until I saw that Aaron found a link to the KARE coverage and also posted a prediction on the Rake Forums found...

Holy balls, Ballstein! There’s some major drama in the DeGrassi High of local media: K-Hoff just axed long-time film critic Rob Nelson, who I was pretty sure was the national voice of Village Voice Media. The frosting is that Britt Robson had some words for his former place of employment in the comments.

Media Tasters
Does City Pages still update their media taster?  Is it still on their site somewhere?  Anyway, checked because MSP mag now offers a media taster, only this one’s embedded, thank God.  There’s only five songs up now, but embedding the IMP player in the site makes it so much easier to listen to new tracks.  Now downloading, now updating, just checking back to see what’s on there.
